The USTA's advocacy agenda is motivated by the conviction that the sport of tennis can be an important part of improving communities, schools and the quality of life for all. As members of the USTA family, we know how tennis can make a difference, but our charge as advocates is to convince decision-makers in the public, private and non-profit sectors of this in order to gain their support. Across the country, there are millions of players and thousands of tennis organizations that are passionate about tennis. You are our most underused resource, but our most valuable asset. The Intermountain Section is joining the USTA and the National Recreation and Parks Association in their efforts to increase our community’s capacity to advocate for improved or new public tennis facilities. By creating a network of interested individuals, the Intermountain Section and its Districts will train and support participating communities in motivating community leaders to financially support the building and renovating of public tennis courts.
In order to begin this process we need to identify individuals who will be our local contact in their communities. Filling out this form will allow us to communicate with you concerning national, state and local opportunities for grants and support. We will also provide training and state or regional support at town hall meetings as well as tips on how to get your message across to those decision makers in your community.
The Intermountain Section acknowledges that the advocacy effort will be a long term project, but we know that over the next several years we will become more knowledgeable, more successful and our network of informed and supportive individuals will increase.
By signing up with us, we ask that you be the liaison between USTA Intermountain, your USTA District, and your local community. We hope that you will work with us to improve local advocacy efforts.
